CRJ Field Work Manual

Most questions about the KU Criminal Justice Field Work (a/k/a internship) Program are answered in the 45 page manual. Browse it online (see the link at the lower right), then print whatever pages you need. Of particular use are the program description (p. 24), the planning sheet (pp. 25-26), and the checklist (p. 27). If you are considering doing an internship beginning in summer or fall 2011, please see Dr. AnnMarie Cordner with a planning sheet filled out before the end of February.

U.S. Department of State Fall Internships

The U.S. Department of state offers internships for the Fall of 2011. Go to the following link for more information (http://careers.state.gov/students/programs#nogo). The deadline for applications is March 1.

The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS)

Applications for the FALL 2011 semester of THE HARRISBURG INTERNSHIP SEMESTER (THIS) are now being accepted. This PASSHE sponsored program allows students to gain experience working in a state executive agency, legislative office or non-profit organization while receiving 15 academic credits toward their major. Students may have any academic major, but they must have demonstrated an interest in public policy or public service.

Applicants must submit an application form, two letters of recommendation, a writing sample, a transcript, and a resume. Students must have earned at least 45 undergraduate credits and a 3.0 or higher grade point average at the time of application.

Each student receives a stipend to help pay for the costs of room, board, and tuition.

Lehigh Valley Collegiate Career Expo

The Lehigh Valley Collegiate Career Expo is being held from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Holiday Inn in Fogelsville/Breinigsville. This event specifically targets students and recent graduates for internship opportunities, volunteer opportunities, part-time employment and/or full-time employment. This is an opportunity to shake hands and talk with employers, learn about internships and job openings and get resumes out to employers.
